M-27, NGC 6853

This beautiful image of the largest, one of the nearest to Earth, first planetary nebula ever discovered was made by Tim Cann using an SBIG ST-1001E camera on the Stony Ridge 0.76-m f/6 telescope on August 1, 2002. On a dark night with still seeing conditions, the image was exposed for 60 seconds. The original image was cropped and reduced in size to fit this page.
