Measure your "Personal Equation"
(Reaction time)

Applying one's reaction time to changes in the appearance of celestial objects can lead to greater accuracy in the visual timing of those events. This is especially relevant in timing asteroid occultations of stars.

Several years ago Sky & Telescope Magazine* published a BASIC program to measure one's personal equation. It has recently been updated by Gary Goodman and can run on any Windows machine running QBASIC.EXE
