NGC 7006 Photometric Standards

The photometric standards field near the globular star cluster, NGC-7006, was observed at Stony Ridge on 2000 October 8.3303 UT. The figure shows the result of 10 20-second exposures taken at prime focus of the .76-m reflector. Each image was added together using the 'Track and Accumulate' command. The seeing conditions on this particular night were not especially good, the star images measuring about 4 arc-seconds across (FWHM).

Star #9, the faintest of the series, is listed by Davis and Christian at magnitude 19.045 with a V-R index of -0.005.

Fainter stars are apparent on the image, indicating that limiting magnitude in average to poor seeing at SRO is fainter than about magnitude 19.5 (e.g., the star just outside the bottom of #9's circle and above the number 8).

Good seeing at Stony Ridge is often better than 2 arc-seconds. This image of M14 is an example of 1.5 arc-second seeing.

The purpose of this preliminary activity was to calibrate our ST6 CCD camera and to determine transfer coefficients for future photometric work.

Standard Fields for further study with fainter magnitudes:

NGC 2264 to magnitude 21.2

NGC 2419 to magnitude 21.2
